About:
Teen Court is a diversion program where defendants are judged by a jury of their peers. Minors who participate in Teen Court have been arrested, have admitted guilt to a crime and choose to be sentenced in Teen Court instead of going through the Pima County Juvenile Court.
Volunteers – teens act as defense and prosecution advocates, members of the Peer Justice Panel, and jurors. Attorneys and Judges serve as magistrates and as mentors to teens volunteers. Training is free but they do require a minimum time commitment for some of the above positions in order to participate in training. (More specifics can be found on the website)
Hours: Arrive by 8:30am to volunteer. Sessions usually end by 12:30pm.
